Latest TimeControl Upgrade Includes First 3rd Party Link to Primavera's New P3e and TeamPlay Project Management Systems
MONTREAL - May 15, 2000 - HMS Software announced today new links between TimeControl, HMS's popular enterprise timesheet system, and Primavera's Project Planner for the Enterprise (P3e) and TeamPlay.
"We believe this to be the first link from a 3rd party product such as our own to either TeamPlay or P3e," says Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software. "Our Alliance partnership with Primavera has given us the opportunity to move quickly and to provide both our existing clients and people evaluating TimeControl with an ability to integrate these new scheduling tools."
HMS and Primavera worked together to develop the TimeControl link with P3e and TeamPlay as a new feature in the just released version of TimeControl, version 3.3 Developing this link was made possible by the independent decision both software publishers made to use the same database technology.
"Both HMS and Primavera selected the Borland Database Engine (BDE) to access the client/server databases we both support," says Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technology for HMS Software. "that P3e and TeamPlay were based on the BDE was fortuitous. It has meant that we did not have to wait for an API (Application Programming Interface) in order to start development. By accessing the P3e or TeamPlay data directly our developers were able to create the link very quickly."
One of the benefits of this technology is that the P3e/TeamPlay to TimeControl link is now the fastest project management software link in TimeControl. The link is bi-directional, moving activity, charge code and resource assignment information from P3e into TimeControl and actual hours, costs, expense report and estimate-to-complete information from TimeControl back into P3e or TeamPlay as required.
John Garay coordinates Alliance partners such as HMS for Primavera. "Partners like HMS are important to Primavera," says John. "By providing links between 3rd party solutions such as HMS's TimeControl with Primavera's products, they enable us to supply a 'best-of-breed' solution to our clients."
With the addition of these new links, TimeControl now includes nine links to project management systems. Other links included are Primavera's P3, Microsoft Project, Project 2000, Welcom's Open Plan, Scitor's PS7 and PS8 and, ASTA Development's Teamplan. In addition, TimeControl's general import/export module allows the creation of an unlimited number of links to other 3rd party applications such as accounting or ERP systems and HR.
TimeControl 3.3 began shipping on May 22, 2000.
The TimeControl 3.3 upgrade is being shipped at no additional cost to clients with a current support and maintenance contract. TimeControl is priced on a per user basis with no additional fee for the server license. A 100-user license of TimeControl is priced at $10,000.
