HMS Begins Shipping Timecontrol Version 4.2
Major Release Of Popular Timesheet Packed With New Functionality
Montréal, Québec September 8, 2003 - HMS Software, a leading provider of project management products and services, has announced the release of 4.2 of TimeControl, the leading timesheet system for project environments. This major update to the popular timesheet system includes significant new features designed to extend TimeControl through the enterprise.
"This is the most significant release of TimeControl in over a year," says Chris Vandersluis, president of HMS Software. "We've not only included features which have been requested by our client base, we've extended the functionality of TimeControl into exciting new areas."
Among the many enhancements in this new version are:
Drill Down Analysis
Most visible in the new version is the new Drill Down Analyzer. This module allows TimeControl users to analyze data by virtually any combination of factors. Hours and costs are instantly sub-totaled by the user-selected categories, which can be dragged and dropped into definition area. This powerful tool is ideally suited for managers and executives who wish to use TimeControl's data for critical business decision making.
Integration with Microsoft Project 2002 and 2003 Web Access
TimeControl can now be installed directly into the Microsoft Project 2002 and 2003 Web Access environment so that all TimeControl functions are available directly from the Microsoft Project Web menu. Once installed, TimeControl becomes part of the Microsoft Project web security system. The single sign-on system and this complete level of integration provides Project users with an uninterrupted user experience when using TimeControl and Microsoft Project together.
XML Export and reporting
TimeControl's vast capacity to move data to other applications is now extended with XML support. The XML system from within the Drill-Down Analyzer supports export of both posted and current data and the automatic creation of XML style sheets which makes this a versatile alternative reporting mechanism from within TimeControl.
Many of the enhancements in this latest TimeControl version have been a result of customer demand. "We've got almost 10 years experience with TimeControl now," says Vandersluis. "We have companies using the product in many different countries and in many different industries. With some deployments as small as a few dozen users and some as large as 10,000, we have a wide range of input from our clients on how to make TimeControl even more effective. We've been able to incorporate many client suggestions into this version."
TimeControl can be deployed in conjunction with a planning tool such as Microsoft Project and virtually any finance system such as SAP or Oracle Financials. "With Enterprise Project Management and accountable management becoming such hot topics these days, TimeControl often becomes the centerpiece of an integrated control environment," says Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technical Services at HMS. "We have clients who have to ensure that timesheet data matches both the finance system and the project system exactly. With the links we've built into TimeControl, accomplishing this becomes very easy."
TimeControl 4.2 is available for immediate shipment. Existing clients with a current support contract will receive the new version automatically. Pricing for new systems varies by volume from $50 to $140 per license.
