HMS Software announces the release of TimeControl Project 8.6 with significant enhancements

HMS Software has been a leader in timesheet and project time management systems for over forty years. TimeControl Project version 8.6 has just been released, with tremendous improvements for this multi-purpose project and resource management system.

Montreal, March 11, 2025 – HMS Software, a leader in project and timesheet systems since 1984 has released TimeControl Project version 8.6 for its TimeControl Online and TimeControl Industrial Online subscription clients. This update was a part of the extensive release of TimeControl Online including new features and enhancements to existing features.

“The TimeControl 8.6 launch was a big success for both our on-premise and in-the-cloud subscription clients,” explains Chris Vandersluis, president of HMS Software. “Aside from all the improvements we’ve already talked about with TimeControl and TimeControl Industrial, the enhancements in TimeControl Project are going to make a big impact for users.”

This version of TimeControl Project includes includes a brand new ability to assign role type resources to tasks in a TimeControl Project View. This opens the door to creating new Resource Capacity Planning analysis at the Strategic Level in either Spreadsheet Views or barchart GANTT Views with associated resource capacity displayed.

“The new resource capacity planning features in TimeControl Project make a significant difference,” explains Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technical Services at HMS. “The Role assignments was a key element and the ability to vary the level of availability and demand for each role in each project, sub-project or even task. That lets users create a meaningful resource capacity plan that can be used for executive decision making at the strategic level.”

In addition to resource capacity changes, TimeControl Project also now allows end users to update their timesheet from right inside a TimeControl Project View. Working in an Agile Board or GANTT View, users can update their timesheet directly from the task they are working on instead of having to exist this View, go to the timesheet, then enter their time.

TimeControl Project 8.6 was updated automatically for all current TimeControl Online clients earlier this month.
