Microsoft and HMS extend their technical alliance for a 22nd year
Montreal, June 12, 2017 - HMS Software, the publisher of TimeControl, one of the world's most popular timesheet systems has announced today that Microsoft and HMS have renewed their technical alliance for another year. The relationship has lasted through numerous changes in the Microsoft Partner Program. This will be the 14th consecutive year in which HMS maintains its certified partner status within the Microsoft Partner Network and the 22nd year that the two firms have worked together in a formal technical alliance partnership.
“Many companies don’t even last as long as this relationship has,” says Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software. “Over the last 22 years we have worked with so many different people at Microsoft in making our products work together. Our first formal relationship was the Microsoft Project Partner Program to help with the link between the first version of our TimeControl timesheet and the early releases of Microsoft Project. The relationship between HMS and Microsoft has grown stronger every year since.”
HMS Software’s TimeControl timesheet has had an integration with every version of Microsoft Project on the desktop since 1995 and with every version of Microsoft Project Server since it was first launched in 2002 and with other Microsoft products like SharePoint.
This year HMS has qualified for two separate Microsoft Partner Network ‘competencies’: Application Development and Project and Portfolio Management. To qualify for these programs, HMS provided client references who provided examples of where HMS Software’s TimeControl successfully integrated Microsoft Project and Project Server and how that integration had provided benefits to the clients. HMS also had numerous HMS personnel pass Microsoft certification testing. In addition, Microsoft subjected TimeControl to rigorous external 3rd party testing to ensure its compliance with technical and quality standards.
Microsoft technology is used to deliver both TimeControl and TimeControl Online, HMS Software’s in-the-cloud timesheet service. Other technologies used can vary from client to client. Windows Server is the platform for the server, some clients will combine that with Microsoft Project or Project Server, SharePoint or SQL Server
“It’s hard to explain how integrated our two firms become because of all the touchpoints,” explains Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technical Services at HMS. “We work with the Microsoft Project teams of course, but also with the SQL Server, SharePoint and Dynamics teams because of how we leverage or integrate with different systems.”
It is this tight integration between the two firm’s technical personnel that has enabled not only links with Microsoft products but also with the products of other firms that use the same technology.
“Our recent announcement of a link between BrightWork and TimeControl would likely not have been possible without the resources available to us as a Microsoft Partner,” explains Vandersluis. “The BrightWork collaborative project and portfolio management system is based on SharePoint and were able to use tools, skills and contacts to help complete that integration.”
Using HMS Software’s TimeControl with Microsoft technologies allows clients to enhance their business processes to comply with numerous timesheet requirements such as simultaneous project tracking, billing, HR management, payroll, job costing and auditable governance such as R&D tax credits, DCAA or Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
HMS has created a resources portal to help identify which Microsoft technologies can be advantageous when using TimeControl. The portal includes numerous resources including white papers, webcasts, PowerPoint presentations and more. The TimeControl Microsoft Technology Portal can be found at: TimeControl.com/use-cases/microsoft-portal.
