Integrating TimeControl and Microsoft Project for the Web
TimeControl has included integration with every version of Microsoft Project since 1995 so perhaps it is no surprise that Microsoft's newest member of the Microsoft Project family, Project for the Web is also supported.
This latest edition to Microsoft Project is integrated with Microsoft Office 365.
HMS and Microsoft developers worked together on this integration to ensure that clients who are using this latest edition of Microsoft Project are able to integrate it with TimeControl.TimeControl’s tremendous flexibility in links with project management systems allows multiple systems and versions to be supported at the same time. So, you can have some projects being managed in Project Professional, some in Project Online, some in Project Server and some in Project for the Web all at the same time. TimeControl will dutifully keep track of all the different links, project-by-project and move data back and forth either on demand or on a schedule as needed. The end-user doesn’t need to stress about which tool a project manager is using, all they need to do is look at their timesheet and add in the time on the tasks they worked on. TimeControl takes care of the rest in the background.
Integrated within Office 365, Project for the Web is supported by TimeControl with integration between the products.
TimeControl integration with Project for the Web can be configured in several ways. Data is integrated automatically from Project for the Web to TimeControl. Projet, task information, assignment and resource information is sent to TimeControl. Hours, assignment progress and estimate for Project Tasks can then be recorded and reported from TimeControl. When users log in to TimeControl they can optionally see any tasks to which they were assigned and add hours to those tasks and any other project or non-project tasks to which they have been given access.
This allows TimeControl to be used as a single source timesheet for recording project progress as well as any auditable functions such as payroll, job costing, billing, research tax credits, DCAA compliance. Only one timesheet becomes the single source for any combination of these functions. This improves data quality, time in reconciling one timesheet against another and auditability of the timesheet data.
TimeControl can also link simultaneously with projects located in Microsoft Project Professional or Project Server and Project Online or Project Online for the Desktop.
Integrating TimeControl with Project Online extends functionality in many ways including the following:
Business Validation Rules
You can create an unlimited number of validations rules to test timesheet data integrity before it is ever released for approval. Rules for hours per day or week, overtime, sick leave, appropriate rates and more can be established for selected users or all.
Auditable Accrual Rules
Payroll and Human Resources may have numerous accrual rules that need to be applied to timesheet data. This can include rules for overtime management, banked overtime, vacation accrual and others.
Multiple Rates
TimeControl includes extensive Rate Table functionality with an unlimited number of rates and rate values per person. Need to charge a different rate for one project vs. another? TimeControl does that easily.
Matrix Approvals
TimeControl includes both supervisor and line item approvals in a unique trademarked process called the Matrix Approval Process for Labor Actuals.
Manage banks of personal time.
TimeControl allows you to track vacation time, sick leave, personal time and other banks of time including banked overtime.
Vacation Approvals
TimeControl's TimeRequest™ function allows the request for future time off to be approved, tracked and put right into the timesheet.
And much, much more...
As a Microsoft certified partner with the Project and Portfolio Management competency, HMS carries the skills to know what Microsoft Project for the Web requires when integrating with an auditable financial timesheet. TimeControl is the timesheet system that fills that need.

Decentralized Project Management and Centralized Timesheets
When people talk about Enterprise Project Management software, they tend to think about a large centralized system either on premise or online which houses all project data. For many reasons, not every organization is able or willing to deploy such a centralized system. There are millions of licenses of stand alone project management systems in organizations and these stand alone systems continue to serve project managers well. But what does that mean for the centralized requirement for timesheets? This white paper looks at this business challenge and points out the benefits of using decentralized project systems and a centralized TimeControl timesheet all linked together. This is impossible with other timesheet systems as TimeControl has by far the most integrations with project systems in the industry.
